3.  Write a text intended to encourage people to visit your favourite restaurant, shop, bar, club, discotheque, museum or art gallery.

My Favourite Restaurant

Among the host of Restaurants in Kathmandu valley my favourite restaurant is Thakali Ghar Aangan Restaurant which is located at Bansbari infornt of Sahid Gangal Lal Heart Hospital, Kathmandu. It is full of specialities for its services and food items available there. It is not only good at noble services it provides, it has ample of choices any customers desire to have.

The restaurant is in maroon coloured building consisting three and half floors. One can have separate get together hall up to 50/60 people to celebrate family functions. One can have peaceful meeting hall or a VIP Room for special guests for their demand. It is full of tranquility and ever buzzing slow motion music continuously. The restaurant reflects Nepali culture; basically Thakali eating varieties and their specialties.

The dishes offered by Thakali Ghar Aangan are organic, typically collected from remote Himalayan regions of Nepal. Organic drinks, organic foods and pure and locally produced fruits and vegetables are main specialities of this restaurant. One can have Mustang’s potato, Mustang’s yak’s dried meat (Sukuti), pure drink made from Jumla’s apples. The pulses and milk items are also brought from far and wide regions of Nepal.

On the other hand, the culture and the service that are offered in this restaurant are totally different ones. A newly visited guest may be puzzled how to dine there in mannered way. It has special rules, systems and patterns of sitting, eating and behaving to each other. One has to be here to taste exotic foods and drinks so that s/he will understand what is meaning of Nepali foods or Thakali foods. Every thing is offered here to dine in according to the demand of customers in a respectful and humble dealing. In short, it is food zone with cultural reflection.

Narayanhiti Palace Museum

Nepal is culturally very rich country. There are innumerable historical cities, things and places. Among them Narayanhiti Palace Museum is one of the significant places and buildings of Nepal. It is a former royal palace in the capital of the Nepal, Kathmandu. The building of Narayanhiti Palace was built in 1970 replacing original building of 1915 in the form of a contemporary Pagoda design. It was built on the occasion of the marriage of King Birendra Bir Bikram Shaha.

Narayanhiti palace’s compound is located in the north-central part of Kathmandu, at the head of Durbar Marga. This palace was converted into public museum immediately after the country was declared as a republic. When the monarchy of Nepal was kicked out from palace and People’s Republic was declared in 2064, the palace turned into a museum. The palace area covers 30 hectors of land. At present, the place is used for the promotion of tourism of Nepal. It has also become a turning point to make our history world wide famous. It is a curious place to all Nepalese people to know about its overall aspects. I like the museum and its structure. We can get a number of information visiting it.

While talking about Narayanhiti Palace Museum, there are some rules to be followed by visitors. Nepali citizens have to pay 100 Rs., students have to pay 20 and foreigners have to pay up to 500 Rs for entry fee. We can’t visit this museum in all days of a week. It is closed in public holidays as well as Tuesday and Wednesday. The museum is open from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm only. I dislike that it should be opened in public holidays and upto 6 pm so that people after office hours can visit it. Sometimes people can’t get tickets easily and in time. It kills most important time of visitors. Anyway, museum has very impressive influence in me. It has become a centre of visit to million of people day by day.

Most of the stones used in those inscriptions are reported to be found in Bhaktapur District and its peripheries. Majorly such inscriptions have included in four-faced Shivalinga, Harihar, Chandrama, Tara, Surya, Vishnu, etc.

On the other had, painting section of the Art gallery includes the paintings of paubhas and manuscripts. Mostly, the paintings of Vasundhara Mandala, Vajra Yogini Shiva Viswarupa have great importance. The reflection of King Pratap Malla can be seen in this section. Actually, the Art Gallery has invaluable Nepalese Culture, tradition and ancient emblems through paintings, inscriptions and manuscripts preserved there.

4. Write a text, with an accompanying diagram, for a guide to the university system in your country.

University System of Education in Nepal

After the completion of school education, there begins University Education in the life of students. Primary Education (1 to 5) is formally first stage of education program. After competition of this level students have to complete Lower Secondary (6 to 8 grades) to reach the Secondary Education (presently 8 to 10 grades, but in New Education Plan it has covered upto 12 class in Secondary Program).

Formally, six-year age is starting period of school education though non-formal pre-primary, play group like classes are mostly run by private sectors. After the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) education, there occurs two years Higher Secondary Education Plan. Only then one enters in the erena of University Education.

Higher Education includes Bachelors, Masters, and above programs in the present Nepali Education Program. The academic years are varies according to levels, programs and subject they take up. Bachelor programs are Three, Four and Five years according to different disciplines. Masters Degree Programs are Two or Three years and M.Phill Program is Two or Three years and Ph.D. Program is normally 3 years academically registered.

To run University education in Nepal, there seems two levels or categories of education. One is privately run or conducted institutionally. In such institution fees and other donations become the major sources of sustainability. They seem to be a bit expensive in comparison to public or Government run institution. In latter case, everything is managed by Government or University. Beside Trubhuvan University and Mahendra Sanskrit University, Pokhara University, Kathmandu University, etc. have their own mechanism and law of conduction.

The diagram of University Education can be limited in the following diagram:

S.N.   Level Programs Academic Years for Completion

Bachelor level

Masters level

3 years/ 4 years/ 5+ years (medicine)

2 years/ 3 years (Technical)

2 years (Two semistars)

3+ years

Ph.D. program can linger upto many years though it is academically limited to three years in Tribhuvan University Programme. Rest of the education degrees have certain years of completion.
